BCU Continues to Raise Fund for Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid through Ethical IT Recycling

Birmingham City University (BCU) Raises a further £723.61 for Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid (BSWA) through responsible IT recycling with SE Recycling.

This marks another charitable milestone in a series of donations made possible through our ongoing collaboration with BCU over the past six years. Combined with previous contributions, BCU has now raised a total of £9,441.33 for BSWA — simply by recycling surplus IT assets in a secure and environmentally responsible way.

BCU is one of the UK’s largest and most diverse higher education institutions, recognised for its commitment to practical learning, innovation, and social responsibility. With a vibrant student community representing over 100 nationalities, the university plays a central role in shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future for the West Midlands and beyond.

This shared vision aligns closely with SE Recycling’s core values of creating a greener future for all and supporting those most in need. Our partnership with BCU is a powerful reflection of these values in action. By recycling their end-of-life IT equipment with us, BCU not only helps divert electronic waste from landfill but also channels the residual value of those assets into meaningful charitable support for vulnerable women and children across Birmingham and Solihull.

Julie Stanyer, Facilities Contracts Manager at BCU, said: “We are truly honoured to support the vital work of Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid. By working alongside SE Recycling, we’ve been able to turn redundant IT assets into meaningful financial contributions for those most in need.

At Birmingham City University, we take great pride in using our resources to empower the wider community — and knowing this initiative is helping to provide safety, support, and hope to vulnerable women and children across the region is both humbling and inspiring. We look forward to continuing this effort and hope to give even more where support is most needed.”

SE Recycling’s IT Collections Manager, Simon Chow, said: “We’re proud to support Birmingham City University in turning their redundant IT equipment into real community impact. Through this initiative, we’re not only promoting responsible recycling but also helping vital organisations like Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid continue their important work. Partnerships like this are key to building a more sustainable and supportive future for all.”

We are truly honoured to serve as BCU’s chosen IT recycling partner. Our shared belief in sustainability and community support continues to drive meaningful results. This donation is not the end – more contributions will be generated through our sustainable recycling model, and we look forward to seeing this total grow as the partnership continues.

Together, we’re demonstrating that ethical IT disposal can go beyond environmental compliance. It can power real change – in our communities, in our industries, and for future generations.
