The Wonder of Z-Arts

Z-Arts, is a dedicated venue for children, families, and friends that offers a number of activities and clubs to inspire the next generation of young people to reach their potential. SE Recycling supports this worthwhile cause through its partnerships to create sustainable funding stream through the collection of unwanted ICT equipment.

As a mother with a young child, I was fortunate to be invited to the opening night of ‘Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf’.  Grabbing my mum and daughter we headed to the venue with much excitement; my seven year old daughter couldn’t contain her excitement and to discover she was able to take part in the arts and crafts activities was the ‘icing on the cake’.  My daughter, Lexi, very quickly learned about the dance classes at Z-Arts, the craft and theatre clubs hosted at the venue.  ‘Street Dance’ and Ballet are now on the list of activities Lexi is keen to take up.

Before the show, it was time for some craft activities.  With juice available for the children, and mulled wine and mince pies for the adults (which my mum enthusiastically embraced!), my daughter was able to design and make her own stickers, as well as building ‘Grandma’s House’.  The staff were fantastic with Lexi, helping her with the activities and Lexi was in her element.

I was told by Gemma, Z Arts’ Campaign Manager, earlier in the week that the play was a humorous take on ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and she wasn’t exaggerating.   Much to my daughter Lexi’s delight, we were on the front row with something for everyone in the play, both adults and children alike were enthralled.  Just when we thought the evening couldn’t get any better, the ‘Wolf’ asked for an audience member to come up and roar with him, Lexi jumped out of her chair before he’d even had chance to finish his sentence, and gave the loudest roar she could muster.  She was so proud of herself and now she’s decided that she’s going to be an actor when she’s older (as well as a street dancer, a ballet dancer, and a singer).  Thanks Z-Arts!

All in all we had a really enjoyable evening, the staff are truly wonderful at what they do, and you would find it near impossible to find a more welcoming group of people. The work they do in their community is obvious to see and I am definitely looking forward to working with them in the future in my role at SE Recycling, as well as returning there with Lexi as I promise my daughter on a daily basis!
